Disclaimers for www.pegprincedesigns.com
The information provided is for general information purposes, and is for your personal discernment only. As a residential designer, I typically don't manage projects and my plans may need to be approved by a structural engineer (concrete pad or footings) or architect (multi stories new) for most major renovations or new builds.
Whether you choose to hire an architect or a residential designer will depend on your project needs and complexity, however, taking the plans I produce to an architect or structural engineers can save from thousands to tens of thousands of dollars. In some urban centers, and especially if the contractor you chose to work with does not have a solid reputation with your municipalities permit office, you may be required to use a draftsperson to get architectural drawings. I work with a drafting firm and can get these done quickly and reasonably using files I extract from my software.
